Project Status update Aug 2022.docxProject Status update July 2022.docx

Dear Residents of the Pioneer Lookout Subdivision:

1.  Distribution Lines  -- (CURRENTLY ON HOLD - looking for grants available with the State of Colorado)

The Pioneer Lookout Water District needs to redesign the current distribution system in order to reduce system losses and increase efficiency of the current system.  The district has had multiple line breaks over the last several years and we know that we have multiple stretches of old corroded metal distribution lines at various locations.  We will be looking for a redesign of those locations and associated line replacements with the latest technology available.  The line replacements will include new saddles and curb stop valves.  In addition to the new saddle taps, curb stop valves, new service lines are to be installed along with new isolation “curb”stop valves.  The curb stop valves are the dividing line of responsibility between the District and individual homeowners.

Our water lines are located primarily under or along our roads so we wanted to inform our residents of our upcoming project.  On September 3, 2021 the water district sent out a request for Proposal (RFP) for Engineering Services.

The engineering contract was awarded to Kimley-Horn based on their submitted proposal..

Data collection & field investigation, alternatives & concept development and a survey have been completed as of May 2022.  The next step is to present the overall information to the residents of Pioneer Lookout Subdivision.

2.  Emergency Interconnect - ( Project 4-20-0153 Monument New Waterline & Tank)

      ** COMPLETED December 2023

The Town of Monument is constructing a water transmission line along the south side of Colorado Highway 105 adjacent to Pioneer Lookout Subdivision and is providing us the opportunity to have an emergency connection to water from the Town of Monument if necessary.

Pioneer Lookout Water District  contracted with Forsgren Associates Inc to design a metered connection from the Town of Monument's system to Pioneer Lookout Water District's system.

Emergency Interconnect Project completed December 2023.  Total cost of $ $87,852.00 paid to the Town of Monument.

3.  Lead and Copper Inventory.

We are required by the State of Colorado to complete and submit an inventory of all service lines in our subdivision by  October 16, 2024.  On March 20, 2024, Mary Bowman contacted the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment to take advantage of the free technical support they provide.  Once this is completed then we will proceed with applying for any grants that may be available to update our distribution lines.  **COMPLETED Service Lines Inventory June 2024.
